Before and After School Care

Before and After School Care (B.O.O.S.H)

BOOSH Cottage is an Outside School Hours Care Centre (OSHC) at Berowra Public School. Our program is based on Australia’s National Quality Standard, designed specifically for OSHC (for full version please visit www.acecqa.gov.au) which aims to extend and enrich children’s wellbeing and development in school age settings.

Our activity programs reflect and value the importance of play in middle childhood.

Activities are provided to support children’s social, emotional and life skill development.

Children are encouraged to grow and develop in a safe, caring and supportive environment where friendship, cooperation and mutual respect are encouraged.

The OSHC environment, resources and equipment provide opportunities for children to engage in self-initiated and spontaneous play. Activities may include art and craft, science, sports and games, indoor and outdoor play, music, dance, drama and cooking.

Health and Nutrition

At BOOSH Cottage we provide positive learning experiences during snack times where good food habits are developed in a happy, social environment. Snacks provided by the service are healthy, balanced and varied. The service provides breakfast, afternoon tea and late snack and children can experience food from different cultures. Menus are updated weekly and displayed at the service.

Educators at BOOSH work in a collaborative environment to support and respect the uniqueness and individuality of children and families. The day to day operations of BOOSH are managed by the Service Director and supported by a volunteer Parents Management Committee (PMC).

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is available at BOOSH and must be applied for through Centrelink by providing your CRN and other enrolment details. For more information contact Centrelink directly at www.humanservices.gov.au or 136 150 Mon - Fri 8 am - 8 pm.
