Welcome to KYellow with Mrs Fenton!
Welcome to Kindergarten Yellow. Our class has been learning all the new rules and routines of being at school. We have already learnt so much and are looking forward to learning to read, write, count and make wonderful new friends. This will be a massive year of learning and personal growth. I look forward to working with all the children and families for a wonderful 2020.
Sports Day – Sports day is on a Friday. Students are required to wear their sports uniform, have their school hat and a drink bottle.
Library Day – Every Wednesday, KYellow will have Library at 10.20 -11:20 with Mrs Jennie Smith. They are encouraged to borrow books of interest each week to bring home and share with their family.
MADD Hour– Every Thursday, KYellow will have MADD Hour at 11.45-12.45 with Miss Brooke Westwood. Semester 1 will focus on art appreciation and music with Miss Brooke Westwood and Semester 2 will be dance and drama with Mrs Lukic.
Homework – Kindergarten students are encouraged to borrow home readers every Friday. Home reads are levelled stories that your child can read to you. Kindergarten is working on their sight words. The ‘Magic’ words or M100W are designed to be learnt at home and brought back to school when your child is ready to read them to the teacher for the next set. Students also have access to Reading Eggs and Mathletics and are encouraged to use these at home.
Crunch and Sip - We have crunch and sip in morning session before recess. Please include a piece of fruit that is easy to eat in your child’s lunch box each day. Crunch and Sip is a small break that only takes 5-10 minutes.
Parent Helpers – We are always on the lookout for parent helpers to support us in the classroom. This could be with literacy or numeracy groups, individual reading or sharpening pencils. Please contact me via the school email if this is something you would be able to assist with.
Assembly – The Assembly time for K-2 is Wednesday afternoons at 2:50 in weeks 3, 5, 8 and 10.
Parent Communication - Open communication between us is very important. Should you have any queries regarding your child, please send me an email through the school email address Berowra-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au . As I am teaching, attending meetings and have other duties throughout the school day, I may take 24 - 48 hours to respond.
Seesaw – KYellow use Seesaw in class time not only for their technology skills through educational tasks, but to show their families what they are learning about during the day. They upload images and activities that they have been doing in class time which encourages families to participate in the learning journey.
What an interesting start to this school year. I am looking forward to more classroom time to learn and grow together.
