Year 5 and Year 6 have been involved in the 'Climate Clever' project. They have been investigating power and working out how to reduce electricity consumption within the school.
When the students conducted a school energy audit, they found out that lights, computers and the IWBs are often left on during the day. The students discussed the idea of designing posters to remind students and teachers to turn appliances off when they are not in use. Jeff 'Joffa' Taylor came out to the school and ran workshops with the students about climate change and poster designs.
Auditing the school
Students conducted an audit of the school by counting applicances and measuring the amount of electricity they used.
Working with Joffa
Year 5 and Year 6 worked with Joffa to create poster designs to use around the schoool- they liked the idea of school 'power rangers'.
Energy
Year 6 investigated energy and electricity through research and experimentation.
Climate Change
Year 6 made 'islands' and tested what happens as the world 'heats up' and ice regions melt.
